This past Valentine’s Day was Senior Night for the girls’ Varsity Basketball team where the school celebrated the five seniors on the team: Seniors Tatum Carney, Liliana Mahdi, Raigan Mcalla, Sky Rossi, and Alana Taylor.
After a challenging season with an array of games that tested the team’s resilience, unity, and spirit, it was exciting to celebrate the seniors. With their last season coming to a close, Senior Night provided the seniors with an opportunity to display their talent and the skill they developed while on the team.
Each senior walked onto the court with their proud families while their teammates and peers cheered them on from the bench and the stands. Each senior was able to reminisce on their favorite team memories such as singing on the bus after a tournament or team sleepovers. For seniors who had committed, it was announced where they would go to college. One exciting example was the announcement that Alana Taylor would be attending Lander University and playing Division II basketball. The seniors thanked their families and friends for the support they showed them along with their coaches who cultivated their talent. Afterwards, the seniors came together to sing the national anthem together before the beginning of the first quarter.
It was a joyous night with families cheering their players on alongside the seniors’ friends from school. Celebrating the achievements of accomplished athletes during Senior Nights like this Valentine’s Day is a pinnacle of the Flint Hill Athletics community and a heartwarming tradition that the entire school will continue to cherish.
