Guitar Club Promotes Guitar For All

Categories:

Are you interested in playing the guitar, or do you already play? If so, the Guitar Club might be your thing. If you scroll down on the Daily Report, you’ll find a red slide advertising freshman Keira Gavin’s Guitar Club. Keira has been playing the guitar for the past couple of years and loves the music she creates and the fun that comes with it.

Guitar Club promises a safe place for beginners and guitarists of all skill levels to learn and grow as musicians. Gavin and the club’s leadership will provide lessons and tips for anyone who wants to learn the basics, and as for more advanced players, Guitar Club will be a place to practice and a place to perform not only in front of fellow guitarists, but in front of the school during Open Mic sessions. A cool aspect of the club is the songwriting sessions that Gavin will lead where you can learn to write your own songs.

If writing and playing on your own is not your thing, Guitar Club accepts song requests for group performances where guitarists can come together and work on learning a song of your choice.

If you are tentative on joining Guitar Club because you don’t want to buy a guitar, that’s not a problem as Gavin has five guitars, one bass, two electric guitars, and two acoustic guitars, available for beginners to use. Despite this, the club does still accept guitar loans to make guitars more widely available for beginners, so if you have an extra, please consider loaning it to the club for the year.

Though the club is open to players ranging from complete beginners to advanced players, Gavin says that she is still searching for assistants that could help teach guitar basics. If you are interested, please email her.

For people who want a more relaxed club experience, that’s no problem. Guitar Club meets twice a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during office hours, but there is no obligation to show up to every meeting.

Gavin is excited to share her love of music with the Flint Hill community and hopes you consider taking a chance by trying a new instrument. In order to sign up, find the Guitar Club poster in the Daily Report until October 4 or in the image beside this article, scan the QR code titled Application Form on the poster and fill out the form.
